Dave Stevens was a master comic artist, and a one-of-a-kind modern pulp and glamour pin-up illustrator. His central project, The Rocketeer, remains a definitive love letter to classic action adventure storytelling, and within the vast roster of Disney-controlled properties, stands continually at the ready to be relaunched as a definitive film franchise. Known to infuse a near real-life level of personality detail into the visual presentation of the many characters he brought to life, Stevens was reputed to fall in love with the figures he created while drawing them, and sadly passed away at the height of his powers, far before his time.
