Watch Now: BORSALINO & CO

Four years after Jacques Deray's gangster film Borsalino triumphed at the French box office and enjoyed big popularity across Europe, a sequel was born from the hands of the same filmmaker. In Borsalino & Co., another solid vehicle for the legendary Alain Delon, we follow the story of Delon's gangster who survives the events of the first film unscathed and is determined to avenge the death of his close friend and business partner. In a bloody confrontation with some new players on the crime scene, he comes up short. But after three years of physical and mental recovery, he comes back to Marseille with a new gang and tries to finish the cleansing he started.

A bit slower in pace but with a stronger sense of realism compared to its predecessor, Borsalino & Co. failed to reach the popularity of the original and was generally unfairly considered an inferior picture. Tonally slightly different, this film is still a well-executed revenge flick with numerous eye-catching action sequences that definitely deserves recognition. No Belmondo? No problem: Alain Delon's blank-faced gravitas and charisma are always enough to capture our attention. An exciting gangster thrill-ride that serves not only as a worthy sequel, but also as a legitimately delightful stand-alone piece of entertainment.
