Watch Now: CISCO PIKE

Cisco Pike (played by Kris Kristofferson) is a former rock star. His current unpopularity results in every producer declining the demos he sends them. One of the reasons why he fell out of grace with the gods of rock and roll was drugs and the fact that he started selling them. Since his girlfriend Sue (Karen Black) is pregnant, he is thinking of settling down, but trouble lurks just around the corner. A corrupt police officer named Leo Holland (Gene Hackman) blackmails Cisco into finding customers for the top-notch quality marijuana he stole from a Mexican gang, and Cisco has one weekend to get the job done. Cisco explains that he is trying to stay out of the drug dealing business, but Holland does not take no for an answer.

This was Kris Kristofferson's first leading role in a feature film, which he accepted without having any formal acting training, because he said he understood the character and the world he lives in very well. Just like Kristofferson, director and screenwriter Bill L. Norton also made his debut with Cisco Pike, getting a little help in the writing department from Robert Towne, so as to flesh out the characters and the story. Cisco Pike became a cult classic after it was released on DVD in 2006, finally getting recognition and favorable reviews so many years after its original release.
