Watch Now: FEAR

Long before creating the television series Farscape and mesmerizing science fiction fans around the world, director Rockne S. O'Bannon made his feature debut with Fear, a horror thriller that was originally meant to be released in theaters but was unfortunately pushed to Showtime. The plot centers around Cayce Bridges (played by Ally Sheedy), a psychic who helps the police catch a serial killer. Based on that experience, Cayce writes a book that gets her on various talk shows. Soon the police need her help again, as they are trying to apprehend a mysterious killer nicknamed Shadow Man. Cayce tries to aid them, but during the hunt, she realizes the killer has powers similar to hers, and Shadow Man begins to taunt her by making her feel the fear his victims sense before meeting their maker.

Pruitt Taylor Vince plays Shadow Man and sends chills down the viewers’ spines at the mere sight and sound of him, showing what a fantastic actor he is and proving that he was worthy of much more credit than he ended up getting during the course of his career. Former Brat Pack member Ally Sheedy also gives a riveting performance, deserving far more respect than she ever got. Some critics hailed the movie as one of the rare horrors that used psi powers to their full extent as a means of creating tension and fear and a prime example of what Eyes of Laura Mars wanted to be.
