Three decades after the Second World War has ended, several former American and German soldiers unite in an effort to find six million dollars-worth of Nazi gold bars which disappeared in 1941 during transport through the Black Forest in southwest Germany. There’s just one problem, however: the only person who knows the location of the loot is an imprisoned Nazi war criminal. The crew doesn’t exactly see this as a problem – more as a challenge.
Led by great actors such as Telly Savalas, James Mason, Aldo Ray and Robert Culp, director Peter Duffell’s Inside Out is a dynamic British action film which aired on NBC under the name of Hitler’s Gold, with the third alternate title being The Golden Heist. Shot by Dutch cinematographer John Coquillon (Straw Dogs, Cross of Iron) and cut by Witness’ editor Thom Noble, this is a fast-paced and clever caper film that brings out the best out of its complex script and experienced actors. The action is enriched with sequences of romance and humor, elevating the plot from a standard heist picture into a wonderfully engaging and rounded experience. If you’re looking for a suspenseful heist movie, give Savalas and the crew a chance.
