MATT LIEBERMAN most recently wrote the original hit film Free Guy which starred Ryan Reynolds, Emmy Award winner Jodie Comer, Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, Lil Rel Howery, and Joe Keery. The film was directed by Shawn Levy and released worldwide in August 2021 and was a global box office hit. The sequel and ancillary universe spinoffs are in active development with Walt Disney Studios.
Free Guy marked Matt’s seventh feature film in just over 2 years, following MGM’s Addams Family, Paramount’s (Playing With Fire,( Netflix’s Christmas Chronicles and Christmas Chronicles 2, Warner Bros’s SCOOB and Paramount’s Rumble.
Matt is currently in an overall deal with Paramount Animation working on titles such as Spongebob: The Musical and Mighty Mouse.
Additionally, Matt’s first novel Mr. Grieves will be published by HarperCollins in 2025.
Originally from New Jersey, Matt now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, daughter and two French bulldogs.
