Get in. Get out. Get paid.

That’s the job.

Dropped into the Altai Mountains with a team of strangers, a burned-out American mercenary is given a simple mission: infiltrate a remote castle and extract a high-value asset. But the operation doesn’t feel right. The intel is thin. And the deeper they push into the castle, the more it feels like a one-way trip.

Then they find the asset. An old man in chains. Barely alive. And not at all what they expected. The moment he’s freed, everything changes.

What follows is a descent into something far worse than a failed mission. The rules of war stop applying, and survival depends on understanding what was really hidden inside those walls… and why they were sent to find it.

Because some things just aren’t meant to be rescued.

Stunningly illustrated by Darick Roberston (Transmetropolitan, The Boys), The Last Warlock is a fast-paced military horror short story—lean, violent, and designed to be read in a single sitting.
